Mark Taylor, European Disabled Golf Association Workshop [Austria]
EDGA’s Head of Instruction and Education, Mark Taylor, will explore a variety of aspects of coaching golfers with disabilities across a two-day seminar relevant to a wide variety of individuals who are, or could be, engaged with disability golf.
SCHEDULE:
Day 01:
- Experiencing varying disabilities and the adaptations required to develop players
- Building specific disability programmes that support the player pathway
- Practical delivery – how to create and deliver outreach projects within the community and create links to golf facilities
- Creating fun and engaging sessions for adults and young people with disabilities
- How to adapt your coaching to golfers with disabilities
- Experiential training to new sampler participants*
- EDGA Player motion analysis showcasing different disabilities and the adaptations required by coaches
- Adapting equipment
- Reflection/next Steps. *Experiential sessions will only be available when EDGA and the host federation are able to organise a group of participants (preferably non- golfers) with disability.
Day 02:
- Understanding impairments – More suited to existing/qualified/PGA Coaches
- Introducing ‘Low Point’ to improve observation, and improve ball flight of golfers with disability (participants and competitors)
- Learning from the edges – EDGA PGA Professional
- Physiotherapist support – understanding motion and physical limitations relating to golf
- Coaching golf to people with varying physical, neurological and sensory impairments
- Practical delivery at a golf facility of both group and individual coaching sessions to golfers with impairments*
- Player analysis of EDGA’s player database
- EDGA coaching programme
- Reflection/next steps. *Where players are available – otherwise the EDGA player database will be used.

- Existing golfers with disabilities wishing to become participation coaches / mentors engaged with G4D projects, rehabilitation therapists/physiotherapists.
